The UCAR Visiting Scientist Programs announces the annual call for applications for the Jack Eddy Postdoctoral Fellowships.  Several new appointments will be made.  The recruitment period ends January 15, 2016.

UCAR postdoctoral positions are generally for two years with the second year based on continued program funding.  Successful applicants in this program work under the mentorship of host scientists in areas of mutual interest.


The Jack Eddy Postdoctoral Fellowships are designed to train the next generation of researchers needed in the emerging field of Heliophysics (all science common to the field of the Sun-Earth connections).  The program is sponsored by the NASA Living With a Star (LWS) program.

  1. Cover letter identifying the name of this program, potential host and location
  2. Curriculum vitae,  including publication list
  3. Names, addresses and emails of four professional references
  4. PhD dissertation abstract, including title
  5. Titled project description, not to exceed five pages including figures and appendices. Proposals must describe an actual research project. Applicants are encouraged to coordinate with host in writing proposal.

U.S. citizenship is not required to participate in this program, but the selected postdoctoral fellows must be hosted at a U.S. research institution. Jack Eddy fellows are UCAR employees and receive a fixed annual salary plus UCAR's benefits (health and dental insurance, paid time off, paid holidays, TIAA/CREF retirement fund, and life insurance). A relocation allowance and an allowance for travel during the appointment are provided. See Stipend & Benefits for details.
